Blinkoo App
Mobile app /
social platform 2023
PROBLEM
Travel lovers struggle to find inspiration for their next adventure or don't know what to do with a nice video found on the social media of the moment. Videos on the internet are not very informative, not very explanatory and do not allow you to book or find out exactly where that place in the middle of nowhere that you like so much is.
SOLUTION
Short videos, “one spot at a time”, a single experience for each video, well told. An editorial home built according to seasonality that allows you to enter and exit feeds of videos entirely on the travel theme. Tags that help you navigate better between the videos and the infinite intersection between them and between the videos themselves.

LOGO CONCEPT
The “blink”, the blinking of the eyes, like a camera stores memories.
The logo is the visual representation of the pupil that collects memories.

BLINKOO PROJECT
Wireframe
To visualize the application in the analysis state, to communicate with the IT team before producing the final UI and to simplify the user interface, wireframes were first created.
These are the skeleton from which to start to build the rest of the body of the application.

Main features
What makes blinkoo useful are the features that compose it. From the very first moment, the user must understand how to navigate within the app and how to move between the various screens that compose it.

Home page
As soon as you enter the app, the first thing you will see are the cards that make up the home. Each card will correspond to a sub-home or a video feed. The home is editorial and changes according to the season.

Feed video
Each card corresponds to a video feed. The video feed is vertically scrolling. There will only be travel-themed videos that can be navigated by selecting and deselecting “tags”.
Each feed will have a specific theme and will intersect with the others.

Upload video
The platform is based on video sharing and the community that feeds the app with unique and exclusive content.

Search page
In the navigation by “tags” that distinguishes blinkoo, the search plays a fundamental role.
You can choose places, categories or users or a mix of two of these and mix them together.

Profile
Shared videos become assets to expand your personal profile.
From here you can edit your personal info, your page description, go to settings and receive notifications.

Saved videos
Always from the profile you can quickly reach the videos you have saved while browsing the various inspirational feeds that make up the app so as not to lose them.
Home Navigation & Video Feed
blinkoo was born as an inspirational platform based on video reels.
The goal is to discover and book unique experiences with the help of its community.

How does blinkoo work?
At blinkoo we may not have revolutionized the world of social media but we have certainly redesigned the way you interface with them. We start from a basic concept: the user has no choice about the content they will view because an algorithm will decide for them.
Can you train the algorithm? Of course, but you will never be able to decide the entry point and the topic, the machine will decide for you.
Starting from this assumption, the need arose to make the starting point the true fulcrum of navigation.
The immersiveness of the videos is undeniable and is triggered by the desire to see that specific type of video or that particular place directly from the cards on the home page. What happens then if I get tired of seeing that category of videos? Simply go back to the home page and change cards.

Home navigation
-
Inspirational feeds with all the videos on the platform.
-
Seasonal editorial section: Contains all the most relevant videos in relation to the period of the year.
-
New video section where there are the latest videos uploaded by users.
-
Specific cards for a narrow type of feed.
-
Editorial playlists that vary by type of experience or location.
Video Tag
How do “Tags” work on blinkoo? By selecting a tag and swiping towards the next video, this will keep the tag active and will show a video where the elements with the active tag type are present.
You can intertwine 3 tags at a time.

Detail page
It was created with the aim of providing the user with additional information that cannot be shown on the video:
-
Skyscanner and Airbnb affiliate links
-
The expanded description
-
The specific information about the place
-
The “open in maps” button that opens Google maps to geolocate the place
-
Direct booking on the website of the property featured in the video

To find a method of dialogue between the different professional figures within the blinkoo project, a navigation map was built.
The ultimate goal of this is to graphically show the various touchpoints that the user comes into contact with when using the application.

Design System
To create a solid User Interface, an adequate Design System was created; To optimize the creation flow of blinkoo's brand identity and to give coherence to the final experience that the user has with the platform.

What is this project?
The inspirational app that helps people discover unique places and plan unforgettable experiences around the world through thousands of unique videos shared by the community.

What steps have been taken?
01
PRODUCT DISCOVERY
This first phase concerns the user's needs and problems. We started with user interviews to understand the needs. Focus groups and journey mapping followed and only after having gathered the necessary data did we move on to formulating hypotheses, devising solutions and prioritizing the work.
02
SKETCHES, WIREFRAMES, MOCKUPS & PROTOTYPES
Once the users' needs were identified, we moved on to formulating solutions designed to solve the problems. Sketching the first interactions, creating the skeleton of the app, discussing between designers and development to arrive at the creation of a testable MVP.
03
USER RESEARCH: QUALITATIVE and QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
Through Usertest we had the first product tested by a group of users to understand how the MVP was perceived.
Once released on the stores, we proceeded with A/B tests, surveys aimed at individual features, screen recording and heatmaps to understand the most used areas.
04
INTRODUCTION OF NEW
FEATURES.
The data led us to become more aware and guided us in introducing new features.
The work was:
Metrics: monitoring before and after the introduction.
Impact: how much these introduced features impacted the KPIs.
Test: test, test, test.
